Heirs Insurance Group has launched the fourth edition of its annual Essay Championship, spotlighting both students and educators in Nigeria. The 2025 competition features N10.5 million in scholarships and educational grants, aimed at promoting insurance literacy and academic excellence.
This year’s contest invites junior secondary school students to write essays (max 500 words) on “The Role of Insurance in Keeping Families Safe and Secure.” Entries will be accepted online between May 27 and July 8, 2025.
The top student will receive a N5 million scholarship, and their school will benefit from a N1 million grant. The second and third place students will win N2 million and N1 million scholarships respectively. The competition also incorporates insurance-themed quizzes, building awareness from an early stage.
A new feature for 2025 is the Teachers’ Insurance Awareness Prize, which acknowledges teachers who integrate insurance education into their classrooms. The winning educator will get N1 million in cash, while their school receives a N500,000 grant.
Heirs Insurance Group’s Chief Marketing Officer, Ifesinachi Okpagu, emphasized the company’s commitment to financial education: “This edition not only celebrates student achievements but also supports teachers as essential partners in shaping financially literate communities.”
Winners will be honored at a high-profile Grand Finale in August 2025. Heirs Insurance Group, part of the pan-African investment conglomerate Heirs Holdings, is using this initiative to deepen its CSR impact and advance insurance awareness across the continent.
