An Ekiti State High Court has sentenced 56-year-old Jaiyeoba Oluwafemi to life imprisonment for the repeated rape of his 14-year-old stepdaughter.

The harrowing details revealed in court included the victim’s testimony that Oluwafemi began assaulting her in October 2020, particularly when her mother was absent, and continued despite her pleas to her mother.

Justice Adekunle Adeleye, in delivering the judgment, highlighted that the sexual abuse occurred on multiple occasions, dismissing the defendant’s denials as an “afterthought.” The court found Oluwafemi guilty beyond reasonable doubt under Section 31(2) of the Child’s Rights Law, Cap. C7 Laws of Ekiti State, 2012, ensuring he will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
