The FCT Police Command has dismantled a suspected car theft syndicate operating in Abuja, arresting eight individuals involved in multiple vehicle thefts.

Among the suspects is a woman, Blessing Yusuf, who admitted to purchasing Toyota master keys online to assist her husband in stealing cars. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the arrest followed an investigation into a stolen Toyota Corolla taken from the Federal Secretariat on April 19.

Her husband, Yusuf Yunusa, was apprehended first, leading to her arrest in Kwali on April 25. She confessed to playing a supportive role by creating distractions during the crimes.

In a separate case, five men were nabbed in Life Camp for possession of a stolen Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC, traced to a theft in Lekki, Lagos. Another suspect, George Idung, was tracked to Akwa Ibom after fleeing with a Toyota Hilux belonging to his employer.

All suspects are in custody and will face prosecution. Police Commissioner CP Ajao Adewale advises residents to use tracking devices and exercise caution when buying used vehicles.
